Xichen Clasico Tour Reviews

Overall rating: (236 Reviews)

This is a great experience! Keep in mind that it is a very long tour. We stayed at Barcelo Maya Beach, and it took about 2 hours to get there and 2 hours to get back. It is a very long day. Also, there is A LOT of time spent at chichen itza (about 2.5 hours) which is unnecessary and tiring. Otherwise, Ik-Kil is stunning and the buffet there is great! My advice is to get in the cenote as soon as you get there because you don't get much time. Last, you do make an initial stop at a little Mayan village, so bring some money for gifts. This part was overall my least favorite and hoping they will remove it from the list of things to do, because it's already a long trip. Score: Recommend: YES from Pittsburgh, PA
Our tour guide was very knowledgable and he even spoken the Mayan language! Good tour Score: Recommend: YES from CA
For only about 2 hours at Chitchen Itza, the excursion duration of over 12 hours was unreasonably padded out in order to allow the operators to combine guests from many locations onto multiple tours. In particular, wasting over an hour in a high-pressure sales effort to sell guests a Mayan anniversary certificate for - wait for it - US$25 was abuse of these paying guests. Chitchen was fascinating, and the tour guide knowledgeable and helpful: but overall much of the day was wasted. Score: Recommend: NO from British Isles
Edwin is an excellent guide, truly cares about the heritage and great at both Spanish and English, highly recommend him to everyone. This was a great learning experience on the Mayan history Score: Recommend: YES from Michigan USA
The stop at the "market" was very unnecessary! Score: Recommend: YES from Cleveland, Ohio
English only would have saved time to explore the sight more and a small map would be helpful when lost. Score: Recommend: YES from Winnipeg, mb
Very fancy tour. With breathtaking cenote. Our tour guide gave detailed description on the history of every ruins! Score: Recommend: YES from
Excellent service, great locations, etc. Perhaps lengthen amount of time in Ik Kil Cenote by about 30 minutes. Lots of fun! Score: Recommend: YES from Canada
Entertaining, peofessional and funny. Probably one of the best guided tours I attended. Score: Recommend: YES from Finland
Fantastic time! Very happy with the entire day! I would recommend this tour! 5 stars!!! Score: Recommend: YES from Boston, MA USA
My family and I had a great time! Raul was very informative. He made sure we were taken care of. It was a long day. Well worth the money. Score: Recommend: YES from Boston, Massachusetts
Due to a few guests late return to the bus at our stop at the denote Ikil (about 30-40 minutes), plus our delayed departure from Cancun(we were put on the second bus, and the bus departed about 20 minutes late then the first bus for the reason that we did not know), our tour of the highlight of today's trip, the Chichen Itza was rather short. We had to rush to finish the tour at Chichen Itza to get back to the bus on time. I really hope we could spend more time at the Chichen Itza. The tour guide was great. However I hope he could do something when those guests could not return to the bus on time. Waiting for them for half an hour was too much. Score: Recommend: YES from New Hampshire
This was a great tour! It was a very long day, but awesome tour and our guide, Reynoldo, was great!! Score: Recommend: YES from Firestone, CO
Ik kil cenote was amazing. Chichen itza was nice. We had plenty of time to look around. The stop at the little town before could have been skipped. It's a little ridiculous that they try to get you to pay them to bless you with the water. They also have a store there and tell you to buy your stuff there. I would recommend waiting until the Chichen Itza markets to buy stuff. It's a lot cheaper. Score: Recommend: YES from Montana
This was a great tour! Score: Recommend: YES from Roseville, MN
This tour was great. We saw so much and the tour guide was knowledgeable, and we were picked up and dropped off on time. All this for a great price. Score: Recommend: YES from Washington, D.C.
The stop for the Mayan Ceremony seemed more like a sales pitch to buy souvenirs at the shop. But the cenote was amazing, and the guided tour of Chichen Itza. I wish we had been told in advance NO BACKPACKS at the site because I would have brought a different bag. I wasn't comfortable leaving all of my personal items unattended, and had I known in advance, I could have prepared better. Score: Recommend: YES from San Francisco, CA
I little too long in the shopping place and a little too short in the historian park (since it is very big). Score: Recommend: YES from Boston, MA
1. Meeting at hotel was kinda bit weird. They did not announce which group they were there for, it was bit chaotic. No lines formed or anything, they were looking for confirmation number in a stack of papers in their clipboard!! 2. When we were taken to the meeting point...it was super chaotic. And the person directing us was very annoying and very impolite. Other than the above mentioned points, trip was really good. Guide was fabulous, informative and very polite. Driver was a smooth, safe and very punctual driver. Score: Recommend: YES from Washington DC
Only because of the visit of Chichen Itza and the cenote. The rest of the tour was strongly poor and not what we expect. Score: Recommend: YES from Quebec City
Tour was great. My only complaint was the unnecessary stop at the gift shop at the beginning of the tour. It wasted an hour that could of been better spend at Chichen Itza. Score: Recommend: YES from Tucson, Arizona
Very informative tour Score: Recommend: YES from
The only thing negative about the tour was the length of the tour. I wish the tour was shorter. Score: Recommend: YES from
Awesome my wife and i will do it again. Score: Recommend: YES from graham wa
It was awesome trip!!! Score: Recommend: YES from Herndon,VA
I didn't like being dropped off at the tourist trap where you had to look at expensive souvenirs for 30 minutes. I would have preferred to shown the old Mexican town where we saw the church but weren't allowed to get off. The cenote and Chitzen Itza were great. Score: Recommend: YES from Seattle
Wonderful trip!!! Thank you. Score: Recommend: YES from New York

Knowledgeable and friendly guides. The Tour bus was comfortable and clean. Highly recommend this for visitors to Mexico. Score: Recommend: YES from Tampa, FL
Tony was a great tour guide and Fernando Pik Balam, being Mayan, added authenticity to the tour. I would like to go back and see the rest of Xichen that time didnt permit. Also, the cenote at Ik Kil was great...food was also good at the Ik Kil buffet. Score: Recommend: YES from San Antonio, TX
Loved it, great tours, customer service outstandig! Score: Recommend: YES from kissimmee, Fl
Great tour , great cultural experience ! Score: Recommend: YES from New york
It would be better if you allocate / give more time to stay at Cenote Score: Recommend: YES from New York
It was an enjoyable tour but think the excursion to the town en route could have been avoided as it seemed to be a stop just to gouge the tourists Score: Recommend: YES from jacksonville fl
Very well organized, comfortable tour and very modern transportation Score: Recommend: YES from Dubai, UAE
The cenote (ik kil) was absolutely beautiful. Swimming in there with the cat-fish was great. The view was fantastic. But on the way to the cenote, we stopped for shopping. But I didn't like that place. The articles they sold were not so good, the prices were too high and we stayed there for too long. I would have skipped that stop entirely to be able to spend more time at Chichen Itza. We ate lunch at the same place than the cenote. The buffet was okay, but nothing more. After the cenote, we went to Chichen Itza. The narration the guide gave was good, it was interesting to learn about the story of the mayans. I wish he would have given us some time to take pictures though. He said we would have plenty of time after the tour to take pictures, but the alone time was quite short and I had to rush to take pictures and buy some souvenirs. The souvenirs at Chichen Itza were pretty good, and the prices too. But there are a lot of vendors, you can easily lose a lot of time just refusing to see their shops, since they're quite insisting. The infos the guide gave was interesting, but my boyfriend did a Chichen Itza tour with another company, and he came back with so much more information and knowledge than me, I now feel our tour could have been more complete with a bit more research. Also, the guide talked a lot in spanish during the bus ride, and then translated in english, but sometimes missed a few sentences in the translation. And I have to admit it's annoying to hear a few sentences in spanish, then a few in english, and so on. You have to be constantly listening, because you never know when he will switch languages and you could miss something. I think it could have been more simple to just say everything in spanish, then everything in english. In conclusion, the tour was pretty good. I would have skipped the shopping time to spend more time at Chichen Itza, and there could be some amelioration on the guide part, but it was still pretty great and I had a very good day.
