Coba, Aktun-Chen and Cenote

Meet the wonders of the Mayan world at the Coba Mayan Ruins, the famous Aktun Chen Park and Cenote.

At Coba, youll explore the oldest and largest Mayan Ruins site in the Riviera Maya, get a historical introspective into the majesty that was once the Mayan empire. Visit the highest pyramid of the Yucatan Peninsula: the Nohoch-Mul. Youll also have plenty of free time to explore and take photos.

After lunch, you'll visit a cenote and Aktun Chen. At the Cenote, you can swim in the crystal clear waters of the second largest unexplored underground river system in the world, before heading to Aktun Chen Park. This spectacular cave system sits in 988 acres of unexplored rain forest. Inside, youll gaze in awe at the stalactites and stalagmites, and incredible formations made by years of calcium carbonate buildup. At the end of the tour, youll be dropped off back at the door of your hotel

ITINERARY

• 08:10-10:00 pickup at the hotel lobby, check pickup lists for details.

• We arrive at Coba at 11:00 to start our 1.5 hours of guided tour of the area, with a guide who will assist the group all day long. Guests have free time to clime the pyramid if they wish to do so. The rental of tricycles is optional and has an extra charge.

• After the guided tour of the archeological site, we will visit a cenote (sweet water well) where guests can swim for 30 minutes enjoying a beautiful cave with stalactites and stalagmites (snorkeling is not available). Guests will have to shower before entering the sinkhole.

• After having enjoyed a refreshing swim in the cenote, we head for a local restaurant to enjoy a delicious lunch buffet (salad, spaghetti, rice, beans, and various stews) and dessert. A courtesy drink is offered during lunch (water or soft drink).

• We leave the restaurant at approximately 3:50 PM bound for our final stop at Aktunchen Caves, where our guests will receive a guided tour of one hour inside the dry caves to learn more about the prehistoric past of this holiday destination, followed by return transportation to hotel of origin.

• This excursion has limited capacity, so we strongly recommend to reserve in advance.

• Only biodegradable sun blockers are allowed.
