Join us in a guided tour of Kantemo, starting with a mountain bike tour through the jungle trails to reach the cave as the sun sets, just in time for the main show; the hanging serpents of the cave of Kantemo.
Every evening at nightfall hundreds of boa constrictors hang from the ceilings and recesses of the cave on the lookout for their favorite prey, bats, which also inhabit this cave in large numbers. Once this experience is over, the adventure continues with a night boat ride through the lagoon in search of the regions crocodiles. A show like no other, taking this tour is like spending a night in an Animal Planet documentary. If you like reptiles, caves, misunderstood creatures or the most extreme side of the animal world, you have to live this experience.
Itinerary:
01:00 PM - Pick up at your hotel
05:00 PM - Arrival to Kantemo. Adventurous bike tour to the caves to discover the hanging snakes catching and eating the bats that pass flying nearby.
08:00 PM - Night bicycling to a fresh water lagoon. Once in the lagoon enjoy a boat trip in search of crocodiles.
09:30 PM - Depart back to your hotel.
01:00 AM - Arrival back at your hotel in Cancun.

Visiting this cave was the most of my family's #1 excursion. Warning: You will get dirty so be prepared. The local staff that went into the cave with us were friendly and helpful. If you like excursions outside of the normal "touristy" stuff, sign up for this one! Of note, the description of this excursion states, "Once this experience is over, the adventure continues with a night boat ride through the lagoon in search of the regions crocodiles". The boat ride never happened. I'm not sure if it is no longer part of the excursion and Cancun Adventures needs to correct this misinformation on their website? Or our guides just didn't take us?
