An Amikoo is about to arrive

Besides its beautiful beaches, adventure parks and wonderful archaeological sites, Cancun and the Riviera Maya are able to attract millions of tourists a year. But now we must prepare for something more, it is a new large theme park, that could even compete against the world of Disney. It will feature rides, water adventures, a large hotel complex with 1,200 rooms plus many other attractions designed to celebrate the culture and Mayan heritage of the country.

With a private investment of 840 million dollars, 9,000 direct jobs and 36,000 indirect jobs will be created. Annual visitor expectations are 4.5 million that it will make the Riviera Maya one of the most important theme parks destinations in Latin America. It is a sustainable project that adheres to environmental protection and conservation standards.

It will be built near Playa del Carmen, in the municipality of Solidaridad, very close to the Hotel Iberostar of the Riviera Maya, on 120 hectares (almost 300 acres, of which 85 hectares will be reserved [200 acres]) and is expected to be finished by 2020. But it will be ready by 2018: a concert arena, a convention center and a shopping center.

The park will offer at least 24 modern attractions and will be divided into four zones: Extreme Maya Park (a thematic area on the lush jungle) Mayan Adventure (A Celebration of the "Mayan City"), Mayan Discovery (Museums of Maya Anthropology and Archeology ), and the Amikoo Land (a family-focused area with shopping mall and restaurants). There will be a giant wave pool; scenic flight simulators to recreate the experience to fly over the most significant places of the country; Mexico Seas, submarine simulator scientific expedition will take us to the depths of the oceans natural aquariums.

In this way Amikoo joins other ambitious projects in the destination such as the Hotel Xcaret Mexico, the Dreampark and Thrillerpark near Punta Maroma among others that which will help to make Cancun and the Riviera Maya one of the most important tourist centers in the world.
